Crucible melted a gathering of student scrap mild steel and a small lump of accidental cast iron from the last bloom smelt in the induction forge. Bloom cast iron was rather slaggy so I scooped off a good amount of black glass from the top, covered it with wool and let cool. Nice solid little puck came out. Forged hard under the air hammer at dull orange until a bar then quickly into blank knife by hand at the anvil. Ultra fast 10in hollow grind, oil hardened and polished to 320. (Did not have time to temper during Open Forge) and etched in ferric chloride
